Friendly staff and dog friendly.

Sunday roasts here are a treat!

A fab place to wine or dine.

brave me! not disappointed, made very welcome

Stayed for 2 nights 14/15 Oct 2018 in room 4. The pub is grade ll listed so you expect it to be very old and rickety. The room was clean and tidy and we were given hand towels and bath towels. Tea, coffee, milk and sugar already in the room and a hair dryer. The TV was fine on BBC and itv but not so good on other channels. TV areal was not up on the roof so it struggles to pick up the signal as it has no clear line of site. Downside of bathroom was the toilet seat which should really be replaced immediately and it would be nice if a small stool /seat was in the bathroom. Shower functional once the hot water eventually comes through. Shelf on the wall above the sink is useless so needs to be removed and then the hand soap would be able to go on the sink instead of on the floor. The mattress although we did eventually sleep made you roll to the centre as it's obviously old. Noise of the chiller units directly below the room is constant with a low humming. We were aware from seeing other reviews that breakfast was not included in the 65 however Josh made us a very good bacon and egg sandwich on the Monday morning and a scrummy full blown English on Tuesday which was very reasonably priced. He was also very informative about the local area and the special bonfire display that is held every few years. The next one being in 2020 when a replica mayflower ship will be burnt. The pub is currently undergoing renovation works on the outside and next year they will be updating the inside which is long overdue. Hopefully this will make a huge difference and resolve the issues they are currently having. The cost of 65 per night was far too expensive in our opinion in its current state especially to not include the lovely cooked breakfast.
